  Trojan Win32 Occamy
Posted by: Mandal0rian - 08-13-2024, 12:17 PM - Forum: Malware Removal Help - Replies (1)

Hello, I have recently encountered the following Trojan:WIN32/Occamy.C17 detection notification. The file is located on my hard drive in a folder with game mods and the last time I used it was almost a year ago and there were no problems. Just to be safe, I checktd Defender’s logs and deleted the file. I also had it saved on a USB stick, which I also scanned and the file was detected as Trojan:WIN32/Occamy.C17. The results on Virustotal are about 50/50, so I'm not sure if it's safe. Maybe someone can tell me whether I should be worried or not?

  Boyu.com.tr virus in Chrome
Posted by: SydMK - 07-30-2024, 09:30 PM - Forum: Malware Removal Help - Replies (2)

Good afternoon! Recently I decided to play GTA with friends, I installed it and then installed the liquid cheat menu. The installation wasn't completed correctly, but right after that Google Chrome was changed to boyu.com and a notification appeared that I agreed to the company policy and should use this browser. After that, I deleted Chrome and switched to Duckduckgo. I also uninstalled all recently downloaded programs. After a couple of days, I noticed an unusually high amount of traffic on my system and my PC started to heat up a lot. Edge webview2 was recording all my PC activity and saving the recording. It works all the time, but it shows up occasionally in the task manager, so I can't do anything about it. Maybe someone knows how to fix this?

  Node.js crashes Chrome
Posted by: Oldandspicy - 07-22-2024, 07:59 AM - Forum: Malware Removal Help - Replies (2)

Hello, for the last couple of months, some strange things have been happening to my system. Some script runs through node.js crash Google Chrome and change the search engine. I accidentally noticed that it was a PDFFlex program, so I uninstalled it. But the problem persisted. I am a fairly experienced PC user, but here I am having trouble finding the cause of this system behavior.
I did what is usually recommended on forums - reinstalling Google Chrome and installing an antivirus solution, but it didn't find anything. I tried ad blockers and did a browser reset but it all didn't solve the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas on what direction to look to solve the problem? Maybe it makes sense to use a different antivirus/anti-malware software?

  Zulip app removal pls help
Posted by: Suspici0us_Geck0 - 07-09-2024, 12:14 PM - Forum: Malware Removal Help - Replies (3)

Greetings! There was a suspicious app Zulip on my laptop for some time. But today I found it in task manager and deleted it. Then I used a system cleanup program to clean up the system from junk and found a hidden folder called Zulip. I decided to open it before deleting it and found a folder «logs». This folder contained strange characters and some of them were blank, I then deleted this folder.
I was sure I deleted it, but it was still there on my laptop, plus I had never heard of such an application. Perhaps some of you have come across it can tell me what it is. I have to say that I originally downloaded Discord Canary but apparently something went wrong. As a result, every time I turned on or rebooted my laptop Discord Canary would spontaneously open 7-8 times. Then it stopped doing that and stopped appearing at all. After some time Zulip also started to appear in the task manager and also 7-8 times until I deleted it. Could that download be infected?
I also noticed that the drag and drop function stopped working on my laptop. It didn't work in other programs, but I suspect it's related to Zulip because after uninstalling it, the problem went away for a while. I uninstalled it several times, but it kept reappearing on the system. Can you tell me what to do about it?

  Stopabit virus returning

Hello. I recently downloaded a file but got the stopabit virus. I deleted it and had no further problems. But today I noticed the "RapidPCTuner" and "stopabit» in the Startup apps list. The were disabled. I ran a scan and it found nothing. Can anyone please tell me if there is anything wrong with my PC?

Hello, I recently downloaded a game, but during the installation I got the stopabit virus instead. I immediately terminated the process in the task manager and deleted all related files and folders. Since then, I haven't seen it in the task manager or the programs folder, and my pc is running fine. However, I'm not sure if I've completely removed it because stopabit is still in the list of installed applications. I deleted the uninstall file and can't properly uninstall it. Could you please advise me on how to remove it from the list of installed apps and whether it still poses a threat to my system?

I have a virus, help pls
Posted by: Henry_KS - 06-26-2024, 06:20 PM - Forum: Malware Removal Help - Replies (1)

Hi! I was browsing the internet today and when I opened another tab and started to type a query in the address bar, my text was deleted and instead it was:
"Hi (my name) how are you?"
I deleted the text and the next what I seen was "hacked"
I immediately closed my browser and tried to open windows defender but the hacker closed the window and opened shut down windows dialogue then my pc shut down. I disconnected the internet cable, turned on my pc and did a full scan with windows defender but it found nothing. I watched some videos on youtube, followed the steps but still nothing. Can you please tell me what to do? I'm worried if the hacker stole my personal data from my pc?

  Persistent Virus
Posted by: J.Parker - 06-19-2024, 01:39 AM - Forum: Malware Removal Help - Replies (1)

My computer was recently infected with a persistent virus.

While installing a suspicious file, multiple cmd windows popped up, and every program except the one I wanted was installed, including a folder with an anime exe. Recognizing it was a virus, I ran Malwarebytes and quarantined it. After restarting, the virus remained, and a few days later, I found two processes where one would revive the other. I killed both and deleted all associated files.

I thought I was in the clear, but when I tried to turn on Windows Defender, it had edited my policy and blocked access. Realizing the registry was compromised, I reset the boot drive and reinstalled Windows. Unfortunately, even after resetting, I am still facing various BSODs, and the virus has resurfaced with Defender being blocked again.

I'm currently flashing all drives and reinstalling once more, but I'm seriously worried my motherboard might be compromised. I'm experiencing numerous memory and kernel BSODs. Can anyone advise me or has anyone encountered a similar situation?

BTW - It was not detected by either Windows Defender full scan or Malwarebytes Premium after the reinstall.

  Recovering from Backup
Posted by: Alex - 06-19-2024, 01:32 AM - Forum: Malware Removal Help - No Replies

I need help with a ransomware virus issue.
My computer got infected, but I have a backup on an external hard drive. I'm worried about recovering the data because I don't want the external drive to get infected too. Can I safely recover my data?

Thanks in advance!
