Trojan Win32 Occamy
#1
Hello, I have recently encountered the following Trojan:WIN32/Occamy.C17 detection notification. The file is located on my hard drive in a folder with game mods and the last time I used it was almost a year ago and there were no problems. Just to be safe, I checktd Defender’s logs and deleted the file. I also had it saved on a USB stick, which I also scanned and the file was detected as Trojan:WIN32/Occamy.C17. The results on Virustotal are about 50/50, so I'm not sure if it's safe. Maybe someone can tell me whether I should be worried or not?

Occamy is a rather old generic detection, and can mean a lot of things. Still, malware is never safe, so you'd better scan the system with GridinSoft Anti-Malware, just to make sure the Defender deleted it completely.

Game mods is an often source of malware these days, so I would also advice you to check every single one upon downloading. Before being run by the game, they cannot do any harm, so if they are dangerous - you can safely delete them.
