Stopabit
#1
Hello, I recently downloaded a game, but during the installation I got the stopabit virus instead. I immediately terminated the process in the task manager and deleted all related files and folders. Since then, I haven't seen it in the task manager or the programs folder, and my pc is running fine. However, I'm not sure if I've completely removed it because stopabit is still in the list of installed applications. I deleted the uninstall file and can't properly uninstall it. Could you please advise me on how to remove it from the list of installed apps and whether it still poses a threat to my system?

Stopabit is a rather sticky thing; it operates as proxyware, with a dedicated piece of the app arranging the proxy connections. Manual removal will remove the app itself, but simply misses to delete the proxy module.
To delete all the junk, use GridinSoft Anti-Malware. Standard Scan will make the malware gone altogether.
